Recipe: Elven Lembas Bread


Elven Lembas Bread

  • ¼ Cup Sour Cream
  • ¼ Cup Lemon Juice
  • ½ Cup honey 
  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour (or whole wheat for healthier version)
  • Zest of 2 Lemons
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Stick of Cold Butter (4 oz)

  1. Whisk together flour, lemon zest, and baking powder.
  2. Add diced butter and mix until it becomes crumbly.
  3. Mix cream, juice, and honey (It should be a thick mixture.)
  4. Add wet ingredients and mix by hand. Do not overwork. Add flour as needed.
  5. Refrigerate for at least an hour.
  6. Roll out the dough to roughly a half inch thickness and slice into rectangles.
  7. Bake 15 - 17 minutes at 400F (200C) until edges begin to grow golden brown.
  8. Wrap in Mallorn leaves and tie in twine to take on your travels.
